stirling exchange logo - performance levels

Welcome to the section of the website which tells you all you need to know (and probably loads you didn't need to know also) about the bilateral exchange trips which took place between Stirling Juggling Project and International Project Argos (Holland) in the summers of 2003 & 2004.

Here are the 2 logos that were used.

First Part of the Exchange (2003)

WHERE? First part was held in Stirling from 19-27 July 2003. The Dutch stayed in a Youth Hostel, and we booked the Stirling Boys Club for a week to give ourselves a place to meet and practice.
MAIN THEMES Art and Culture, European Awareness
SYNOPSIS Bringing together Stirling Juggling Project and International Projects Argos (Holland) 'Performance Levels' will be based in the historic centre of Stirling. It will comprise a programme of workshops, skills sessions, discussions, visits and social activities, exploring performance in life and as art, culminating in a colourful finale of circus, cabaret and culture.
Why Call it 'Performance Levels'? We will use performance as a form of artistic expression to examine the idea of personal performance, which may be in a work/study context or in a social context. Performance levels may be read to mean measures of performance, or to suggest that two different groups of people may be 'levelled' (i.e. made equal) through the medium of performance.

Visit Ball Juggling Products Page by clicking on this image - thanks! The Stirling Posse's hard work paid off, and the Exchange was a success, with a fantastic show to round it all off. The Exchange was led brilliantly by George the Juggler, with a bit of assistance from his co-leader Steve (me)! We even got a good write up and mention in the British Council's annual publication as a shining example to other groups thinking of doing similar exchanges!

Final Part of Exchange (2004)

The theme for the second year was chosen by the Dutch who organised the whole programme of activities for us. It was called "Whose Side are you On"? The programme this year was to feature lots of political debate and discussion in order to raise awareness of the issues going in around the world.
