Fuel |
NEVER use Petrol! It is very
dangerous... Recommended fuels are paraffin
(also known as Kerosene), lamp oil or barbecue
fuel. |
Good
Juggling Standard |
Make sure you have achieved a good juggling
standard before you use any fire products. |
Sensible
Clothing |
Make sure you are wearing sensible clothing
and can conceal your hair if it is long. Tight
fitting natural fibre clothing, is the best
clothing to wear. |
Check
Equipment |
Always check your fire equipment before
you use it. Check that hardware is not loose,
handles are in good condition and trim any
frayed wires or wicks. |
Never
Practice Alone |
Always make sure there is someone on hand
to at least keep an eye on your activities
and help you if you get into trouble! |
NEVER
EAT OR FIRE BREATHE |
None of the products on sale in this store
are designed for this purpose, and it is a
highly dangerous activity. |
Unlit
Props First |
Practice with your props unlit first. Get
used to your equipment before lighting it,
but recognise that there will be an added
drag and danger factor when the props are
lit so they won’t behave in exactly
the same way as their unlit versions! |
Shake
off Excess Paraffin |
Shake off all extra paraffin from the wicks
before you begin to use the fire product.
This will avoid splashing yourself or the
audience with paraffin. |
Safe
Distance |
Keep all onlookers at a safe distance. Make
sure there are no trees or cabling overhead,
and that you are in a suitable open space
which is away from parked cars, buildings
etc |
NEVER
INDOORS! |
Never Fire Juggle indoors! |
Fire
Extinguishing Equipment |
Keep a fire extinguishing device nearby.
This can be a fire extinguisher, bucket of
cold water, or a wet towel/rag. As long as
it would be capable of putting out a fire,
then you and everyone around you will be much
safer in the event of any accident. |
Under
the Influence |
Never use fire when under the influence
of drugs or alcohol. |
Storing
Equipment |
Never put away your equipment while it is
still cooling down! Always store your equipment
safely and keep away from children. |
Remove
Container |
Once you have dipped your products in the
fuel, pour all excess fuel back into its container,
and place the container a safe distance from
your performance area (but out of the reach
of any passers by!) |
