Find-It
The sealed transparent tube is

are shaken around to try and spot
the 47 objects hidden amongst
them. These include a feather,

a long time trying, we can't 'Find
It' (a frustrating situation,
responsible for the game being

Snakewater
A show by Jay Gilligan
and Matias Salmenaho.
Filmed in Tampere, Finland, and
Berlin, Germany during January 2006.
Technique is nothing without something
to say. These words we are writing
have no meaning if all they talk
about is how to write words. Fingers
striking keys on a computer, the
up and down motion of the button,
sending electrical impulses to form
little collections of dots on the
screen in the shape of letters-
all this tells you nothing about
what we want to say. The craft of
turning a physical action such as
moving a finger into words on a
page that you can read has nothing
to do with the art of expressing
something of value, something you
cannot find anywhere (or anytime)
else in the world.
We cannot tell you using words
what our show is about. The techniques
we had to use to write our message
were movement, time, and humanity.
These tools’ capabilities
were beyond our currently available
technique to communicate our thoughts
by simply hitting a few keystrokes.

Trilobite
Filmed in 2004 down on the farm
in Arcadia, Ohio, and high in the
French Alps near Montelimar, France,
over a period of 2 weeks. Trilobite
is the first in a series of 3 documentations
of the collaboration between Jay
Gilligan (juggler) and Robert Skoro
(musician) by dance filmmaker Sara
Sponga.
This project was 2 years in the
making and the work on this film
was all shot and designed specifically
for DVD, making it the most focused
and accessible offering in the whole
Gilligan vault.

guitars, fountains, empty fields
