BRIEF: Provide the Scottish
Poetry Festival in St.Andrews with 4hrs
of Clowning and Poetry Related Juggling
as part of the Children's Programme.
For this event, I teamed up with the excellent
clown Silly Tilly, and we worked in short
15min sections swapping on and off with
each other and occasionally doing a double
act from 12-4.
We were in the Byre Theatre which is a
fantastic venue. Our staging area had a
balcony above where people could watch us
as we ate our lunch! We ended up entertaining
far more than just children!
For this event, both myself and Silly Tilly
each wrote 30mins of original material,
so that we wouldn't be repeating ourselves
within an hour, by which time the audience
would have changed and it would be a brand
new show for the next lot of people! We
didn't count on a large group of the audience
sitting and watching over 2hrs worth of
the show and still not getting bored when
they saw the same routine for a second time!
Silly Tilly and myself would like to thank
the organisers of StAnza for inviting us
to be part of this prestigious annual event,
and for the excellent hospitality we both
received whilst working there. |
