Sheila's Pink Party was held
on Saturday 26 February, and thanks to the
generosity of everyone who attended, plus
a donation from Norwich Union's staff charity
fund, over £3,000 was raised for Breakthrough
Breast Cancer.
The Concept (text taken from the
website www.sheilaspinkparty.org.uk)
When Sheila was diagnosed with Breast Cancer,
she was very positive that when she got
well she would give a party to thank all
those who had helped her throughout her
illness. Sadly Sheila left us in February
2004 but the family decided that they would
hold the party anyway to mark the first
anniversary of her passing. This event will
be a fund raising opportunity in support
of BREAKTHROUGH BREAST CANCER. This charity
researches the causes of breast cancer and
was set up in 1991 (for more information
about the charity please click on the link
to their website www.breakthrough.org.uk
Where did a Juggler fit
into all of this?
Sheila's daughter Kay was a bridesmaid
at my wedding in November 2004. As the event
was being held in Aylsham, Norfolk, and
this is where a large amount of Rachel's
family and friends live, we combined the
event with the chance to meet up with everyone
once again!
<-- We all had to wear pink,
so please enjoy the rather fantastic pink
outfit I brought with me!
So What happened?
The Evening
On the evening there will be plenty of
opportunities to give more money. There
will be a raffle with many prizes, an auction,
face painting for the kids and Virgin Cosmetics
make-overs for the ladies, computer games,
a band will perform and Steve the
Juggler will show us his tricks and may
even let us have a try! How will
we fit it all in? And of course there is
the fish and chip supper (mushy peas and
bread roll included) and a licensed bar.
(sorry, you will have to pay for drinks!).
Then at 11pm we will round off the evening
with a rousing rendition of Monty Python's
''Look on the bright side of life'.
Come and join us in celebrating the life
of a very good friend, much loved wife and
mother who enjoyed a good laugh and lots
of fun and help us raise a load of money
for BREAKTHROUGH BREAST CANCER. Don't forget
to wear something pink - there may be a
prize!
The Raffle
Prizes included a holiday on the beautiful
Scottish island of Lismore (where Brian
and Sheila holidayed for several years),
Rosemary Conley electrical items and books,
Virgin Cosmetics goody bag, signed books,
tickets to local attractions including the
Muckleburgh Collection, The Poppy Line,
Origins at the Forum, to name but a few!
The Auction
Local Auctioneer Martyn Fox (Keys Auctioneers)
will be auctioning some of the items that
have been donated, including a signed copy
of Nick Mason's book ''Inside Out - A Personal
History of Pink Floyd' along with a signed
copy of their CD ''Dark Side of the Moon'.

There was also a Ballroom dancing workshop,
and I compered a talent show featuring people
who had taken part in the workshop throughout
the night.
A fantastic event,
raising money for a fantastic cause and
dedicated to a fantastic woman.
