PHOTO & INFO:
Gourock Mission

19-21 March 2004

Me!! Looking suave and handsome as always! I had been asked onto this team by the leader Ruth who was in training to become a qualified iMPACT mission leader. It was decided that the theme for the holiday club on the Saturday morning would be circus based, and the craft activity was making juggling balls (great fun and easy to make!) The stories were about Daniel (the lion tamer) and Samson (the strong man). Both people, I am sure you would find in a modern day circus!

Juggling Workshop

Ready to begin!!
Poi workshop
It was fantastic when I found out that more than half the team could already juggle! I had taught some of them on previous missions, and there were a few people who could spin poi and do the diabolo etc. This made the workshop a lot easier than it would have otherwise been! After running a training session on how to run the juggling workshop, I organised the 40 (approx) children into 5 groups, and let them spend 10mins in each group trying out the equipment, before moving on to the next group. The groups were:
Devil stick workshop
  • Throwing things (balls, rings, clubs, scarfs)
  • Spinning Plates
  • Poi Spinning
  • Diabolo
  • Devil Stick
Another plate spinning star pupil! We ended with a quick talent show, so that children could come forward and show each other what they had learned and get a huge round of applause! Many thanks to the rest of the team who taught in each zone allowing me to float freely around the event and help wherever needed!

Steve was part of our mission team at a weekend in Gourock. The theme...Circus. So who better to ask along ...but our one and only Steve. As well as being a great encouragement to me and being a asset to the team Steve was able to use his God given talent to entertain children and adults.

Steve led a workshop in the afternoon and introduced the children to different skills juggling, poi, plate spinning, devil sticks (nothing to do with the devil) etc. The children were put into groups and allocated a "zone" for 10 minutes and there they got taught the basics of the skill. They then kept rotating so they could have a shot of everything. Steve came well prepared and his patience and encouragement was evident in his teaching.

During the morning worship on the Sunday, Steve gave his Juggling Testimony which had everyone amazed. He juggled with various juggly things and as he juggled he told us about his relationship with God and about how he became a professional juggler. Very interesting.

Steve is a great asset and ambassador for his faith. He will entertain and and enthrall all ages with his talent. People if you are looking for a entertainer..look no further than here.
God Bless you Steve.

Murder Mystery Night

Murder Mystery night (with Pauline posing as Jill the Minister!
On Saturday night, 5 of the team had been set aside and briefed, as they were to be the murder suspects for that nights Murder Mystery event which was aimed at the Youth. We had a fantastic turnout! Our group managed to correctly guess who the murderer was when we all came together at the end of the night, and then Phil delivered a talk and showed a powerpoint presentation done to the tune of "Sacrifice" by Creed which was very powerful (it showed various depictions of Jesus suffering on the cross.

During the Church service, I had loads to do! As well as being up front during the Childrens songs, I was in a drama called "the unforgiving juggler".

I also gave my 15 minute Christian Juggling Testimony routine in front of a packed congregation on Mothers Day. It was very well received and I got lots of positive feedback from people afterwards.
