Edinburgh Fringe 2007

I attended the fringe for 11 days this year and saw nearly 70 shows! They are ranked in order, starting with my favourite. Remember that even the worst shows may have appealed to other people, so these are just my opinions!

This year, some friends accompanied me for some of the days. Thanks to Euan Reid, Lawrence Sum, Judith Hanlon, Craig Pitcairn and Alice, James Japp, and my wife Rachel and Mother-in-Law Faith!

Some Stories from this Years Edinburgh Fringe!

Markus Clarke Puppet Maker
I was the only person in the audience for this show. The performer asked me to stay and even bought me a couple of drinks!

Pappy’s Fun Club

I got offered a free ticket for their show this year as they liked my review from last year, but I had already bought my ticket! I got to meet the cast before the show though! They got nominated for the If.comeddie award, but sadly didn’t win. Hopefully it will raise their profile as they are well worth going to see!
Niblock v Gig-a-Tron
Didn’t get round to seeing this show. The first time I tried, it wasn’t on at the venue (Ivanhoe) listed in the fringe, as the venue was completely boarded up, and the second time, I went to the new venue it was listed under and found it had been replaced by a Stiltskin concert!
Amateur Pro-Celebrity Karaoke
I got to sing “Under the Bridge” by Red Hot Chili Peppers, and do some juggling and came runner up in this show!
Shappi Khorsandy / Arturart
The most heavily pregnant woman who has ever appeared on stage at the fringe! She issued marigold gloves to someone in the front row, just in case she gave birth during the show! Her pregnancy test result (with the colour blue) was on display in Arthur Smith’s art installation called “Arturart” (which won spirit of the fringe award)
Frankie Boyle
I got filmed for the 5min insert at the start of his show where a guy tries to take the mickey out of the public. I don’t think they used my short clip, as I came out with a few good one-liners that the warm up guy wasn’t expecting!
Jerry Sadowitz

I arrived just before the show, and the only seats still empty were the entire front row! Needless to say, I was one of the 2 volunteers he used, and I managed to run on stage afterwards and grab the playing card with my signature on it for keepsakes!

Card used by Jerry Sadowitz Card used by Jerry Sadowitz

Jerry managed to make my signature somehow appear on a card already signed by another audience member!

?!? (Quiz)

My runners up prize

A quiz with no rules! I came 2nd in this competition and won a springy cat and a whisky golf ball! This is definitely a style of quiz that could catch on in the future, especially when you are given extra points for the funniest answers!

Quiz answers - can you guess the questions?

Here are my answers (click to enlarge!) - can you guess what the questions might have been?!
