About Steve's Juggling Career (2001-present)
My name is Steven William Thomson (Steve). I have
been a professional juggler since July 2001,
but have been performing ever since I began learning
way back in 1993. I live in Stirling which is in the
heart of Scotland, UK. There is a thriving juggling
scene in Stirling, and I am part of a collective known
as Stirling Juggling Project.
In 2002 (my first full year as a
professional juggler), I performed in excess of 35
show's/workshops all over Scotland. My routines became
a lot slicker and continued to improve with each performance.
I was hired to juggle at some Christian festivals
and also teach juggling on Kid's Sports Camps throughout
the year. I even made my first
TV appearance on a talent spot on a BBC Football
programme called Offside!
JUGGLING STORE: In July of
2002, I secured a loan from the Scottish Princes Youth
Business Trust (PSYBT) to fund the setting up of my
online mail order juggling equipment store.
The year 2003 brought many new and
exciting juggling challenges, including performing
in front of over 100,000 people at the International
Festival of the Seas, and for the richest man
in Scotland (Brian Souter - Head of Stagecoach)! My
Christian juggling routines began to be more widely
used throughout Scotland! I did just over 50 performances/workshops.
The juggling store added BUY NOW buttons and could
accept payments using Paypal and Nochex.

In 2004, the juggling store
began to accept credit/debit cards. The store
continued to add new products throughout the
year, with over 100 products by the year end!
I performed at several major Christian festivals,
and performed my first ever one
man one hour Christian Juggling show at
Carberry Festival! I also ran a 2 day Christian
juggling course at a Christian outdoor centre,
and began performing regularly in England. I
got several gigs which involved me dressing
up as various characters ranging from the Grim
Reaper (see photo on left) at Halloween, to
a Medieval performer at a medieval wedding banquet!
On 6 November 2004, I married a
wonderful woman called Rachel! |
2005: My wife and I designed a fantastic
Schools promotion kit which went out to every school
in the local area, and I received tons of work as
a result of this, which got me known as a local
juggler and saved me always having to travel huge
distances for lots of gigs! I also passed my driving
test, and so I can now drive to my gigs instead
of relying on public transport, which means that
I can carry more juggling props with me and therefore
put on more elaborate shows and workshops!
2006-2007: Now doing
approx 100-120 gigs/workshops per year. Lots of
schools work, but also added Circus
Badges and Motivational
Speaking to my portfolio! Managed to finally
conquer 5 ball juggling!
